Had my last clinic of the year at Northstar Tahoe this past Weds. 7 hour drive down, busted out a clinic, then six hour drive home the next day.

Highlights:

Evan at Alpine Experience was kind enough to let me give his fellow employees a Nitro Clinic. I followed up Adam from K2. Always a pleasure to see Adam. The clinic went well and afterwards they were having a movie premier. Good times, even though I was dead tired from driving. Evan and Mandy were also kind enough to let me crash out at their house. Thanks you guys!!!

The next day I drove to Portland. Showed some people some Rook, then went to a concert with some friends. It was Kyuss lives and the Sword. Kyuss always rocks, but this was my first time seeing the Sword. Most excellent band!

next morning, I took a buddy to his first trip to Pine street biscuit company. Nuff said....

Well, it happened. I made it to Alaska. I've only been there one other time, but I get the sense that I need to hang out more there in order to get a true feel of the place. I flew up on Tuesday to give Zaks Boardroom a Nitro Clinic. For those of you that don't know, Zaks is the best shop in all of Alaska. Hands down. Clean shop, right product mix and killer employees. Also faithful Nitro supporters. I rolled in and brought the troops pizza and we talked it up about the new product line. Afterwards, Travis and Caroline and I went out to play darts, drink and catch up. Good people those two. Jammesons whiskey is good and night and terrible the next morning..... ouch that hurt.... a great trip and those guys rule!

So, it is finally here. The long awaited, much anticipated Travis Rice follow up to That's it, That's all. I guess he was lying. The trailer looks insane.

What I am truly stoked on is that I am going with my best friend from school. He and I used to go to the Warren Miller films in the late eighties just to see the 4 minute section of snowboarding. I still use the hot iron that we bought back in 1988 to wax our boards. Additionally, he is bringing his 11 year old daughter. She wants to get into snowboarding. Seems like it is coming full circle.. Pretty hyped!

I'm in San Diego at a sales meeting for Tumyeto. They distribute Dekline footwear, Toy machine, Foundation, and Pig Wheels. The meeting have been super good, and I am fired up to get out on the road and show some accounts. One of the highlights was getting a tour of the Watson Laminates factory. The factory is partly owned by Original Gangster Todd Swank. He was kind enough to give up a personal tour. It is amazing to see what goes into making these skateboards. Watson is one of only a handful of Skateboard producers that can claim the title of "Made in the US" Below are some photos.

Heading to Seattle Tomorrow. Have to wrap up some final Elwood deadlines as well as tear down the showroom.. The consortium had a good run, but now it is time to tear it all down. Hopefully, some day, we will be able to do it again, but maybe better..

I will have a co pilot tomorrow, Marcus Crocker. should be a good time.. It will be nice to have some company on the six hour drive.

Then when I get back it is time to start getting ready for the big weekend! Hazel's secon birthday.. pretty stoked!

Finally had the opportunity to watch the documentary "Helvetica." I wish I had more of a clue about all things design, but movies like this make me feel a small part of it. Worth watching and made me appreciate fonts all that much more.

Heluva day yesterday. Something like this. wake up in Bend. Drive to Seaside. Drive to Aberdeen. Drive to Olympia. Drive to Portland . Good riddance that is a lot of time in the car. Oh well, got a lot of work done. GOt to reconnect with Mike at Northwest Snowboards. IT has been too long since we have worked together, so I am hyped to be aligned with him again..

Today, shop in Portland then off to Hood river. Heard Hood got some snow overnight, so the drive should be good! I like driving in snow.

WWSRA On snow demo 2010

ON snow demos are always fun. It means getting to see all of the people you have worked with all together enjoying what they all want to be doing. All filed under the auspice of "work" This year was no different. The only difference was, is that I was held responsible for laying out the lot. It is my big duty as a board member of the WWSRA. I went up Monday nigh and with the help of Barcus Evans, Dave Henderson, Jack Green and his posse, we were able to lay the lot out in about two hours. No problemo, right. well, in the middle of the night, it decided to snow. so when I showed up the next day, the parking lot was white and all of our markings were gone. Again, Jak and his posse helped me and we cranked that thing out in about 25 minutes. Thanks again guys.

So......it has been a while since I have posted last. Not that anyone reads this thing anyway, so I am safe. But still.....

Skate art auction 2010!!! Huge Success. Travis Yamada puts this thing on and he does a killer job. Last year, he ran it almost entirely by himself so this year, he got a few more people to join in an give a hand. Nice work Travis. your efforts are appreciated.!

The Poet House was packed to the brim from 6- until the ned of the auction. Free beer and food helped power the crowd and there was plenty of money raised. The skatepark needs a whole lot more, but events like this help keep the buzz alive and momentum moving forward. below are some pics.

Man! been on a tour of the northwest over the past few days. Something like this. barrel up to Seattle Saturday. Give Clinic to Zumiez kids. Spend Sunday lounging in Seattle with Barcus Evans. then of to Zumiez Party Sunday night. FLY home monday morning for a CORIL luncheon. Fly back tonight. Get ready for 7 A.M Clinic at Sno-Con. Then drive home. Then Thursday night, drive to the beach.. phew...

Zumiez Clinic went well. GOt in front of a lot of faces and got some good info into their heads. The competition afterwards was cool. It was a beerathlon. The first person had to do push up, then play flip cup. The next person had to run to the urinal and tag it with a spy sticker. the last person had to do a BB gun race. good times for sure!

The party the next night was fun as always . IT is one of those parties that is TOOO easy to have a good time at. SO I checked my self out at 9:30. reasonable. But Watched supernatural. He was good. I managed to get some product into his hand and he parlayed it into his rap. very cool.

Weekend: went well. Stayed home and enjoyed the last bit of summer. Supposedly it comes to an end this week. Im torn.. Part of me is digging the weather and lack of crowds and part of me really really wants winter to get here! I guess it is win/win..

Work is going well. I have been at home getting tons of office work done which feels good, but I always feel like I could be on the road more. I have a pretty intense trip coming up.. Zumiez is having their annual Meeting for their managers and I have to go up and give them clinics. should be fun but the schedule is kind of a bust. It goes something like this

Drive to seattle

give clinic

attend Zumiez party

fly home

home for 18 hours

fly back to Seattle

wake up and give clinic at Sno con

Drive home

all in four days...phew

This past weekend I also helped out at the first annual Side effect gear sale. I got rid of some gear, made a little money and helped them out. A god way to spend a few hours on a Saturday and Sunday. Plus I got my "retail Fix." I kind of miss that rush of selling at the customer level. Yes, I am in sales, but it is more on a buyer level. When I actually get to talk directly to the customer and see their " Stoke," I get super stoked.

This week looks good.. travel to PDX to see sister and get some work done. Going to stop by the river on the way and see if I can get into a fish or two!

home life: awesome.. Hazel is now 1.5 years old and super fun. Bethany is now working for herself and does work for Les schwab as her main client.

I picked up a company called Grenade. We'll see what happens. the livity thing was very cool, but a totally different channel of trade than what I am used to..

Summer is still here and we are enjoying every last bit of it.. Went canoeing yesterday morning and then went for a mountain bike ride in the afternoon.. pretty good day if i do say.

Back to work.

My dad and step mom just left form a five day visit. always good to see them. they enjoyed seeing littel Hazel and my dad is just smitten by her!

As for wrok, work is good. I recently got approached by a comapny called Livity. Aftersome looking over I decided to establish a relationship with them and I am now the Northwest rep for them. The line itself is a little earthy, but secretly am a hippy myself. All organic adn hemp products as well as some recycled PET products.

I hit the road next week for a four day three night tip up to Seattle and back. need to get on the road and make some sales!@

Went super good! Had so much fun just relaxing. Getting some surf in. Eating well. Drinking cold beer.. very good and relaxing. Now, back at work with a good heart and head in the right direction.. here is the place we stayed.

Last week was the on snow demo at Mission Ridge in Wenatcehe Washington. Good times. I had two tents up there. One for Spy and one for Signal snowbaords. We had some chili going, a keg of beer and plenty of people in the tent at all times.

It has been waaay to long since I have written on this damn thing. Been very busy and I have no good excuse. So here goes.

I am writing this in the San Francisco airport. MY flight out of Las Vegas was a couple hours late, which in turn made me late for my connecting flight. Frustrating but what are you going to do?

I was in Las Vegas for SIA. The Annual Ski and snowboard show that is a dealer based expo. I Started working with the guys as Signal and so this was my first year with them and it was awesome. The booth was full at all times and the hype was super good. It is refreshing to be working with a company that is small, personal, and what people seem to be looking for.

As per usual Vegas was on. Drink every night. Meals with friends. Gambling. The whole nine yards. But by far my favorite night is the final Thursday night of the show. What started out as a rep only style night out on the town in Old town, turned into this amazing group of Northwest peeps. A night where we are friends and not co workers. This takes down some barriers and allows everyone to just enjoy what we do. It’s a cool feeling and I need to figure out a way to continue it next year when the show moves to Denver. I am sure something will pop up.

Just got back off the road from Seattle.. I took off last Weds to Hood River and then to Portland.. Met ups with a good old friend, BJ Lee. I haven’t seen him for four years or so, so that was very cool to re connect. Then Thursday it was off to Seattle. And al the shops along the way. I spent the night with Barcus. They are always so hospitable! He and Laurie are good people. Friday was fixing to be a good day, as Hazel and Bethany were flying up to spent the weekend in Seattle.. Awesome. They got in safely. Late, but safely. We met up with Jak Green and Sarah at the sculpture park in Seattle.. a very cool park and great with kids. Then Bethany went shopping and got some work clothes. Lookin good!
Sarah volunteered to watch Hazel that night so we could go get some drinks. So we took her up on it. It was very nice to catch up with the main lady. It seems like it had been a while. Then we spent another hour or so with Sarah catching up and what not.
Sunday, we met up with Andy Holloway. Bethany’s dear friend from college. They just had a kid, so it was grand to catch up. I then took the ladies to the airport and I headed North to the great ZUmiez Party.
Now this is a hell of an event. They rent out the roller rink/bowling alley and get drunk. As a rep, I have to go and hand stuff out. These kids are crazy and so into Zumiez, it is scary. But I ended up seeing all sorts of friends and got to hear DJ z-trip.. I am not a fan of “DJ’s” per se, but this guy was amazing. If you ever find yourself with a chance to see him..DO IT. He has this Barack set which is ridiculously good. Afterwards went and had more drink sat a bar with Randoms. Good times

I had amy first "father Daughter " weekend this wekend.. Well, really it was just a ngith, but still.. it counts. She is radical and we had a good time.. went for a walk with our friend Allie. went to Rileys market a few times and played a ton.. also made her watch some football. she didnt seem interested... hhhmm....

I also went for a Mountain bike ride iwht my friend Burl. He is a rep as well for Obey. We had this killer route planed out, and then the rain started... holy shit.. I have never seen it rain on a trail like that. The trail literaly turned into a river. it was trippy. We finally decided to get out of there after a few miles and rode back down to the truck. But the trail was now a river, so we were ridign doen a four inch river most of the way down.. soaking wet. A good time for sure.

Hell of a week. Every few months, I try to get out and see those accounts that don’t see many reps. Thye are usually out in far away palces and they just don’t get the attention that other shops get. So th is past week was my Eastern Oregon, Boise, Eastern washignton trip.

Such good people out there!

First stop baker city. “Flagstaff sports. “ Mark and Barb have owned the shop for a few years now and they are amazing. She is bubbling personality that seems to always have a smile on, while he is the consummate Mountain bike rider. He told me he has been going out lately and riding in the mornings. 5:30 to be exact. Two headlamps, his bike and the trail.. Hardcore.

Then off to Boise. Spent the night. My favorite Indian food restraint in the US is in Boise. Closed on Mondays.. yikes. Missed It.. Next time..

Next morning saw Chris at “The board Room.” He was dealing with some Movie premier issues so he was pre occupied. But such a good dude. At least we caught up

Then went to “Newt and Harold’s.” Love the Laurie’s of Newts! I never see them enough, but when I do ---SOLID!! And Brandon the shoe buyer is spot on and knows his game. Showed him some shoes and headed to Lewiston, Idaho.

Now the trip to Lewiston Idaho is 6 hours long.. It is windy road that is beautiful, but not very efficient. I also don’t get cell service in this part of the world.. Which is actually pretty awesome.

I showed up in Lewiston about 5:30. Steve and the crew at “Follets Mountain sports” are real deal! A-1 people for sure. They run a shop that caters the needs of that town and they are the only shop in town. So they are good…

After that, I rallied to Walla Walla, WA. I got some Thai food and went to the local brewery to grab a few pints. Ran into some belligerent who started spraying like he knew everything about anything to do with Grindline and Dreamland. Whatever.. some people need to feel that way to survive. Just skate damn it!

The next day I saw Dusty at “Dusty’s ski shop” and “Lost boardroom.” Lost is looking epic now a days. The shop is full and if you are between the ages of 14-25 living in Walla Walla, it is THE place to be. Mike and I hung out for a while and then I hot the road back. Four hour drive home

1050 miles in three days. Not bad….

I bought a motorcycle about a month ago.. super cool old BMW . Been riding htat a lot!

Having a sample sale this weekend.. need to clear some gear! doign it with Burl. Should be fun.

traveled this weekend . Went To Chad Mcveigths property out at Triangle lake on Friday. Drank too much. Drove to Hood River on Saturday for the First annual Glassman Blurberry fest. drank soem really good heavy beer that gave me a wicked hangover in the morngin..

This week back to work. off to Boise Weds returngin Friday, while the ladies go off to Montana..

TUesday

I decided to implement "Business Monday" .. Instead of casual Friday, I will now wear suits on monday's. I have a few of them, so it is fun to play dress up.. yesterday was first take and it was good.. This week, I have a ton of office work to catch up on as well as clean out my car form last weeks haul. Thursday I am heading to Eugene to show Dave at Tactics some Alphanumeric. Good shop, great dude. Then Friday to Hood River for soem work followed by a weekend of R&R..

I was in Spin class this morning and the Loverboy song "Everybody's Working for the Weekend" came on.. what a kick ass song!!.. makes me want to wear Corurderoy shorts, smoke camels, grow a sweet mustache and drive an 83 T bird... helped keep the pain off my mind..
